Comfrey is a versatile plant that would be a excellent addition to your homestead. It is hardy and easy to grow. Just plant the root cuttings horizontally under about inch or two of soil. It can also be potted. When planting in a garden or elsewhere, make sure you give some thought to where you plant it since it can be hard to get rid of once planted, as the roots grow deep and it can be difficult to get them all out. However, Bocking #4 Comfrey is non-invasive and does not spread or seed.
Comfrey can be used for compost, mulch, fertilizer tea, etc. Its beautiful purple flowers attract bees and butterflies. It can be made in to a salve to promote healing for broken bones, sprains, or bruises and for muscle and tissue pain and injuries. Many farm animals will eat the leaves, though it seems to be more palatable when dried. Some make it into a drinkable tea for a variety of medicinal purposes. While it is perfectly safe to use topically, the FDA does frown upon human consumption of comfrey, but I suppose you can make anything cause harm to lab rats in high enough doses.
This listing is for 12 root cuttings approx. 4" in length. If you would like to purchase a different quantity please message me. They will be cut fresh the day of shipping. For best results plant right away, but can be stored in a refrigerator for a couple months if needed.
